One of our retail clients was the victim of an armed robbery where a gun was used. Quick thinking staff triggered their Staffsafe alarm and within a minute our Emergency Response Operator, who was listening covertly, heard the key words: “Get off me. Just take the money.”
This gave our Emergency Response Operator the evidence needed to call the emergency services, and to relay live information to inform their response. While the Police dispatched Officers to the scene the staff members were able to give a very clear and accurate description of the gun, the perpetrator and the direction he took.
Through a mix of evidence, including our voice recording of the robbery, Police detained and charged a local male, who they were later able to link to other outstanding robberies in the area.
In total this male received a Life sentence (15 years), with 8 of those years given for the armed robbery recorded and used as key evidence thanks to Staffsafe.
